Riyala provides accommodation, camping and venue facilities. These include a large covered meeting hall with open sides, a large fully functional community kitchen, large covered dining area, male & female ablution blocks with handicapped access and a laundry area.
Dormitory accommodation
There are a total of 13 dormitory style rooms, nine of which have 2 bunk beds and a single bed, sleeping 5 people, and the other four have 1 bunk bed and 1 single bed, sleeping 3, making a total of 57 beds.
Air-conditioning is available in all rooms.
Mattresses (with protectors) and pillows are provided. Linen can be supplied upon request with additional laundry fees. We suggest a top sheet or sleeping bag. It can get cold in the rural area, especially during the dry season.
Camping
Green, grassed areas are available for tent camping (tents are NOT supplied). The grassed areas are extensive and surrounded by trees that provide substantial shade as well as neat gardened areas and can easily accommodate 130 people in tents.
A limited number of unpowered caravan and camper trailer sites are available with special access provided. Please indicate anticipated number in your booking and let the Site Managers know upon arrival for directions.
NOTE: Camping sites are only provided as part of a group booking and we do not offer single site bookings.
Ablution blocks
The ablution block provides toilets and with hot showers (including disabled facilities in both the men and ladies). A separate unisex toilet facility is provided off the dining area. A laundry facility is also provided.
Kitchen
The kitchen is located off the dining hall and has plates, cups, glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils for 100 guests. Our kitchen has recently had an upgrade and now provides a modern air-conditioned working space for the cooks and their helpers. Basic kitchen equipment such as saucepans, electric frying pans, slow cookers, woks, urns and kitchen utensils are provided. There are two large gas ovens and cooktops as well as a flat-plate BBQ, 3 fridges, 1 small and 1 large freezer. Use of the kitchen is included in the accommodation costs.
Catering
Most camps choose to self cater. However, if you would prefer someone to cater for your group you can contact Jan Herrmann who may be able to assist with catering for your group. Costs generally start at $40 per person for a full days catering (breakfast, lunch, dinner and either morning or afternoon tea) but this is dependent on group size. An individual quote can be arranged should you wish to consider having your camp catered for. Any profits from catering go back to Riyala.
Dining hall
The open sided dining hall has tables and chairs to seat approximately 120 people for meals.
Camp style washing up facilities are provided. The hall has fans as well as break out lounge area and an area for table tennis etc.
Meeting hall
The meeting hall is located between the two accommodation wings and is open ended. It is now fitted with a wall mounted large screen television which can be connected to your laptop. The meeting hall provides a large undercover area for games or seminar sessions. Many groups choose to use the fantastic, lush gardens and lawn areas as small group spaces rather than the undercover areas during the dry season.
Solitary retreat
We can provide a small, self-contained, two bedroom, donger-style accommodation as part of your booking. This is an ideal option for your guest speaker and family. This can also be used for short stays as a get away or retreat. Please contact us for more details as use of this facility comes with a range of conditions regarding other visitors using Riyala.
Rental property
We have a secluded, rural, rental house as one of the private residences. Please contact us regarding availability.
